I've tried using the pixel cropping method but that mucks up the AR i.e. streches everything. I just want to crop a little from the bottom.

i am dealing with a .tp which is 1920x1088 (NTSC). I have set both the width and height to be 800x432 and the bitrate at 2604. The problem is the W-Zoom is marked read with 111% what does that mean? After reading the tut read means that it should be lowered? I have lowered it to 704x384 and there's no reds. Is it overkill to have 800x432? i thought since the source was HD it'd benefit or does the above have to do with something else?

nevermind i have the wrong input resolution. But i have another problem if the input res is 1920x1088 and input pixel aspect ratio is: NTSC anamorphic 16:9 after i've encoded it using XVID the outputted file has the wrong aspect ratio i.e. it's wider than 16:9 and squashed any ideas?
this:

should be like:

is it ok to use the following:

instead of:

because the 2nd gives me the wrong AR (rather pointless because i'm limiting myself to 720x)480)? I'd rather get that fixed.

fixed by changing input pixel AR to 'display AR'

Is the 1920x1080 source displaying nothing but "image" pixels - ie: there are no black mattes at all?
If so, why not generate your MPEG-4 encode using 720x480 pixels and add 37:27 AR signalling afterwards?!

kcb:
I merged your 2nd thread, since it was a single post, and clearly related, into this one -- but it seems to have mucked up and jumped to the top post of this thread.
