I'm re-encoding the 24 episode discs and each time the output is a few MB's to large. I changed the targetsectors setting from 2257500 to 2256000. The disc is still a bit to large with 2256000.
I normally encode with the setting 2257500 and that way the output size is just below 4,37GB. The encoder i use is CCE 2.7
Are episode discs somehow different for this setting?
thx in advance

Any time you set the TargetSectors value higher than it's default you are taking a chance at oversizing. Encoders are pretty good at sizing... but aren't exact.

I use 2253000
I just did an episode discs today and got the following: 4.36 GB (4,688,162,816 bytes)

I find that no two video's ever compress to exactly the same size.
I have seen large swings, especially when playing with the TargetSectors
option.
I am rather beyond anal about the size of my movies and if I don't get 4.37 I just redo it until I do. It has taken me up to 6 tries to get it where I want.
Bobzhome with that size I would have to do it again. I couldn't take wasting that 12mb's.
Yes I know it's sick and so does my doctor :)
Maybe more drugs would help, nah I am just off my rocker.

hehe. just a little sick.. but whoever amongst is not a little sick cast the first stone :)... the problem for me is 1. i dont mind reencoding things if it makes a visual difference (for example the extras get encoded at too low of a rate so i use halfd1 or maybe raise the ratio.) but 50 mbs over 4000 doesnt show for me visually.
also.. since getting 4700000000 bytes is impossible (well. not impossible.. with some serious tweaking you can do it)... where do you draw the line.. 1mb short, 50kb short... at some point you have to say its good enough...

I would challenge anyone to tell the difference between the same DVD sized to 4.32GB or 4.36GB... it just doesn't matter when you're talking about those kinds of differences, and in MHO it's a waste of time trying to squeeze it out. But to each his own...
As I've said before... it's like pissing in the ocean and trying to see how much the tide has risen. Sure it's risen -- but is it significant?

Let the therapy begin.
On many levels I know it won't make a bit of difference
and maybe I should start listening to that other voice in my head (not the one that says kill, kill, kill).
In fact I have gone so far as to re-encode for 2mb's. Crap now I really do think that is sick.
Ok so you have convinced me. I am cured. Well to a point. I will not fight over a few mb's anymore.

As a confirmed ocean pisser inner, I can tell you I have great results at 2265000 and using rbopt. Thanks to robot1.
