Put all your request here and maybe some lucky developer will come around one day and make your wishes come true.

From what i've read, many people have been asking for ... all the non-present features ... xD
Such as :
1) --crf mode
2) chroma qp offset (--> saves many bits on anime without loosing that much quality, it's only chroma after all :p)
3) Zones
4) CQM support
5) the VBV stuff
Seeing everyone asking for *at least* all this I was getting interested into helping continue the vfw interface but I'm out of time already, I hope someone has more spare time than me =)

Messy as, esp. with the conflicts between the recent patch since it was done before.

Good, good. Here is my ideas about new features in official x264 build, not only in Sharktooth build like before.
First al all, many patches hasn't yet implemented, like subme 7 in official build, no-fast-pskip. And, or course, let us to choose between Trellis quantization values, "On The Final MB" or "Always" value. Currently, official builds from x264.nl offer only Trellis quantization value "On The Final MB".
Second, CQM and some nice profiles would be great to include in future x264 official builds. Perhaps, somebody can do new color profiles for vfw x264 builds, like a 4:2:0, 4:4:4.
Also, buffer control, Zones and Adaptive Quantization patch should be added in official x264 build, not only in Sharktooth builds.
Also, according to bob0r idea about new tab for vfw builds(picture is below), I think that is very good idea. One more tab is needed.

Right so now you want features that aren't part of the core in the official VfW code? The VfW code needs to match the core. If the core doesn't contain subme 7, then VfW can't. Nothing to stop someone writing a matching patch though.

First: I'm very happy with the updated VFW interface!
Hope it will be kept simple and clean. New features are good, but I don't think we need experimental or "extreme" stuff in the VFW...
What I think is most interesting to add now, is "constant quality" mode. I usually use "constant quantizer", so it would be interessting to compare!
//Edit
I noticed that encoded files are now much bigger (constant quantizer mode). About 60MB where old builds would result in about 40MB. Can this be the effect of Trellis? I now have to use higher Quantizer: About 30/32 instead of 24/26 to get the same size...

and yeah, i will never get my hand on a 4:4:4 sample anyways, but who cares, i want it! in vfw!
:stupid:

Don't worry bond. he's not that intelligent. he spends so much time praising vfw that he doesn't even know 1 thing about how it works. Which is why the devs need to dump the vfw completely from the cvs.

:stupid:Maybe we could add this to VFW itself, so it will work for every codec!!! :D ;)

sharktooth said it.. many participants of this thread are violating rule 16 (there's a sticky saying no requests for x264 vfw options)
