I get a message saying vstrip_ifo.exe has encountered a problem and needs to close. We are sorry for the inconvenience. Then an "error parsing IFO file" I read a thread pertaining to this issue in this forum found here: http://forum.doom9.org/showthread.php?t=100972&highlight=error+parsing+ifo+file, but it didn't help. I also tried opening the IFO file manually with vstrip, but I received the same error. Can anyone shed some light on this issue or point me in the right direction? By the way, I'm doing "Brothers Grimm" and I've never encountered this issue with any of the other DVD's I have.

It could have to do with the ARccOS protection on the disk. Do some searching and you should find the solution.

Ah, I should have known...I've come across a few of those already. Thanks.

Hey CWR03-

Or BigDid, or anyone else that might be able to shed some light on this. Any of you guys registered at Videohelp.com? I was trying to help someone, and got nowhere. I referred her to this thread, but it didn't help. It's baffling, and, frankly, I'm stumped. Here's the thread. It's getting to be a long read, with an off subject diversion near the end:

Edited to fix the link. And she's solved the problem herself, since I posted here.

Indeed a long read and a non-friendly poster :(

Well ,the problem seems coming back...
There was a thread here in which the problem was AGK gotten corrupted -> uninstall, clean install (nothing more, nothing less but AGK)
Another thread in which the problem was not AGK but a bad ripping (not decrypting)!, a new rip fixed the problem.

That's all coming to my mind ATM

Thanks for having a look, BigDid.

Yeah, the 2 things you mentioned as being possible causes, bad install and bad decrypt, she covered, and then some. I can't really fault the things she did to try and fix the problem.

Yes, a very unfriendly poster. He wouldn't last too long around here, I don't think. In fact, that place kind of amazes me sometimes. Quite a few people that should know better keep insisting that VBR MP3 is "bad", or are promoting obsolete and inferior methods such as just dropping AVIs into encoders, or, even worse, the VFAPI method, using Full Processing in VDub along with VDub filters, and other silly things.

And what's also strange is that after she got it fixed by installing her image file, the problem came back a day or so later all by itself. And of all the problems reported here over the last couple of years, none really match what happened to her. This thread is about the closest I could find that might help with her problem.

I came across this problem (ifo parsing) recently twice. Second time I decided to check what's going on - I could only go as far as call of vstrip.dll method that crashes on me, so the error is definitely there, but I can't trace it any deeper atm :( Solution would be to use good old method of opening first VOB and taking it from there (as long as you don't need subs of course).

P.S. Of course this can happen only with a particular IFO files and not all of them...

Hi Len0x always good to read from you.

You're going to laugh, I was using Vob input until very recently, I posted concerning an IFO problem and re-read the manual to discover I could use IFO as input :D

If you have some elements to share in this thread: http://forum.doom9.org/showthread.php?t=114287 , I'm sure they will be welcome. Take care.
