I use DGindex 1.4.6 final. movie used=madagascar. problem:

1.when the making of .d2v file finishes this message pops up "field order corrected.the original version was saved with the extension '.bad'". what does this mean?

2.dgindex shows that the frame type is progressive. but when opening the "corrected" d2v in gknot i can clearly see that it is interlaced. if i open the "bad" d2v in gknot the frame seems progressive. what file should i use and should I deinterlace?

3.the field order in dgindex if i hit F5 is bottom. but if i hit F6 it is top(unless it is at the start of the video) and if i use the F5 at the same portion of the video it stays bottom(eventhough with F6 is top). which value is correct so i can use it with dgbob to deinterlace?

if i use "cartoon mode" with xvid would I get better results?

As stated in the user manual: "Frame Type - Displays Interlaced or Progressive depending on the value of the MPEG2 progressive_frame flag. Please be aware that this merely describes how the frame was encoded; it says nothing about whether the content of the frame is progressive or interlaced. It is common for progressive video to be encoded as interlaced, and vice versa."

I believe Madagascar is hard to rip correctly. If you are getting field order transitions, you may want to review the threads discussing the peculiarities of Madagascar.

Set your project range and then do F5. That is the field order to use. If you jump into the video arbitrarily the order may change if you slice off a RFF flag. For example, if the pattern is 3 0 1 2 3 0 1 2..., that is TFF. But if you start F6 at the 2th frame, you get 0 1 2 3 0 1 2..., which is BFF. By losing a RFF, you lose a field, which changes the field order.
