Hi I have a question concerning the bit rates. What are the most common used in bitrates in standard devices/tools? As proposed in international standards or, if not yet standardized, common practice? For SD and HD resolutions:
eg fill in next table (I've filled in some myself):
MPEG-2: SD (DVD) 6 Mbps; HD (HD-DVD, BD) 18 Mbps
WMV9
MPEG-4 ASP
MPEG-4 AVC
Any ideas, hints is welcome,
Tnx a lot, Cozzn.

Where did you pull these figures from? Secondly, unless I've missed something there are no "standard" bitrates.

For VCD and SVCD, standard and max. birates, resp., are defined. For DVD, a maximum bitrate (and maybe a minimum) exists as well - but no "standard" bitrates, sorry.

Yeah I forgot about them. In that situation it is pretty well defined.

Yep. Of the hundreds of DVDs I own they range from over 9mbit to under 3mbit and any combination you can think of between them.
cozzn, basically the bitrate of whatever you are encoding is completely dependent on the situation and in the cases you listed there is no standards for bitrates.
