View Full Version : AVI demultiplexing?

 Hello, I am desperately trying to figureout how to make mpeg-4 backups of my dvds so I can watch them without the fbi warning, ads, and other extra bs. I have tried using gordon knot but failed to get anything out of it in the past.:scared:

I was just wondering if there is a prog put there that can de-multiplex (seperate video+audio into seperate files) of avi's, and then subsequently interleave an mp3 of my choice into the muted avi file.

If I could just find such a prog it would be an awesome help.

(my format of choice: XviD, 720 X 480, 2-pass, 4:3, ~550 KbPS)

1) Load the .AVI file into VirtualDubMOD (a different program than the standard VirtualDub)

2) From the "Video" dropdown menu, select "Direct Stream Copy"

3) From the "Streams" dropdown menu, select "Stream List" - click on the "Disable" radiobutton

4) Click on "Add" radiobutton and select the .MP3 file you want to add

5) Click on the "OK" radiobutton

6) From the "File" dropdown menu, select "Save as" and save with a new filename

wait hold on here - it slightly recompressed the video from 631 kbps to 627 kbps (61 bits per pixel -> 60 "...") and the difference is terribly visible. Am I missing something on how to prevent it from messing with the video file?

PS- just for the record- is it possible to use (regular) gordon knot to encode xvid-720x480-4:3 (or 16:9) ntsc from an mpeg file of same properties?

EDIT 2: on the first part of this post - I may have been mistaken as I had 15 or so files. I may have confused 1 for the other.
