The menu appears...with 5 selections.
But the first 3...nuttin' happens when I
click on them.
I had wanted to try this out, to compare for myself
with dvd shrink.
But I can't even get the damn program started.

Any thoughts...??

The dvd I'm trying to shrink, is on the hd, a capture
from the tv...

Hi!

Are you sure that the hard drive version of your capture is, in fact, a valid DVD "package" (.IFOs, .BUPs, .VOBs)?

Can you process it with DVD Shrink?

Made with dvd lab pro.
Prossessing it right now, as we speak, with dvd shrink.

Thing is...it's not that recode won't open the files,
it's that recode won't open at all, on the first 3
options.
I click, and the pig just sits there, mocking me...

Is this a purchased version, or from "some other source"?

By the way, which menu screen are you looking at that has 5 options? According to the documentation, the initial screen of Recode 2 has 3 options - "Copy entire DVD to DVD", "Remake a DVD", and "Copy DVD to NERO Digital"...

Why purchased, of course.
Nero 7.

The menu items are now as follows....
Recode entire DVD to DVD
Recode a main movie to DVD
Remake a dvd
Recode DVDs & video to NERO Digital
Recode a main movie to NERO Digital

Only the bottom two respond to the clicks.
The top 3 do diddly

This info regarding the NERO v.7 version of Recode 2, from the NERO site, may offer some insight:

"Nero Recode 2

System requirements:

Microsoftİ DirektX 9.0b or later

Optional:

DVD-Video plug-in* to enable DVD recoding, and DVD-9 to DVD-5 feature.

* DVD-Video plug-in is already included in retail version."
