I have a PAL R4 star wars dvd here.

According to ifoedit, there are 5 angles.

Anyway, I opened one of the .avs that was created and took note of the .d2v used. I then opened the .d2v in a text editor. It seems this .d2v was created using a .vob file located in the "DV2AVS" directory. But when I looked for the .vob file in that directory, I can't find it.

just to make sure, I opened the .avs in vdubmod and wmp 6.4 and I am getting errors.

I thought dvd-rb can handle multi-angles now. Maybe I was doing it wrong?

thanks for the replies

I think DVD-RB creates the vob files just when they are needed. You should find the vob file if that segment is encoded.

Of course DVD-RB can handle multiple angles...

What you are seeing is correct. The VOB file referenced by the D2V file is demultiplexed on demand into the D2VAVS directory by DVD-RB during encoding. It has to be demultiplexed because DGDECODE can't handle ILVU. The reason it is done on demand is to save disc requirements. If it weren't done that way some heavily ILVU discs (e.g. Commander Zim) would need twice as much disc space (as much as an additional 8GB) during encoding/rebuild.

If you want the VOB files to stay persistent in the D2VAVS directory for some reason you can set this option in the REBUILDER.INI file's [Options] area before encoding:

PERSISTENT_ILVU_VOBS=1

But remember, on some discs it can use a LOT of space.

thanks.

It was my first time encoding multi-angle so I wasn't sure. I usually remove angles using ifoedit.
