this is not against rule 12
12) How NOT to post on this forum:
5 minutes after your initial post you reply to your own post writing something like "Why is nobody helping me? I'm sure you know the answer". Once somebody replies to your thread but doesn't give you exactly the answer you've been expecting you insult them.
Do not ask "what's best" because this question cannot be answered objectively. Each and everyone has their own view about what's best in a certain area. The best is what works best for you!

The problem with codec packs is they tend to be buggy and fragile and unneeded codecs are bloat and interfere other codecs so it's better to install only needed codes manually. In the feature list of my application StaxRip I make a statement clearly agains codec packs in the feature list as I see it as a feature that my application does better than many other applications.
Rich feature set to manage, integrate and download required third party application transparently instead of awkward or dangerous codec packs or application packs.

@Wesmosis, i deleted your other thread. I'm sure this is in violation of rule 1, but since you already got a strike ...

I used the Nimo one a long time ago to get the "DivX Audio" codec. It allowed you to selectively install only what you wanted so that was pretty good.

so I wanna know which is the best among thosethere you have it ;) It is up to the moderator team to decide what constitutes a rule infraction.. you can appeal that decision to me, but you can never rule on your own.
Clearly, if a thread has been closed and you open another one with slightly different wording and the exact same content, that shows a blatant disregard for the rules. And it's why we have a nice strike system. I didn't even give you a strike the first time.. but since you're obviously not interested in respecting the rules, this time I'm putting on the boxing gloves..
