Im having audio sync issues when converting avis to dvd (or svcd).

Someone told me to get AVI-mux GUI and see if the original avi has any delay. They said dvd2svcd will not read this built in delay in the avi file.

Sure enough I open the avi in AVI-mux GUI and there is a delay.
It reads:

(default) audio: AC3 (384 kbps CBR, 5 Ch, 48 kHz, bad: 36863, delay: 767 ms, 175

Ok so now I know i have a 767 ms delay. What can i do when it comes to converting this thing to a dvd using avi2dvd?

One solution is to demux the ac3, use jsoto's delaycut, and then remux the avi.

Or while the video is encoding you can use delaycut on the extracted ac3, and replace it with the fixed version.

3 questions:

The original delay I get from AVI-mux GUI is 767 ms.

Do I enter that amount in jsoto's delaycut? Should I click ORIGINAL LENGTH and just ented 767 ms for start?

2ndly.
To replace it while video is encoding. Do I just cut and paste in the avi2dvd directory?

To demux i use vdub. But how do I remux?

Well I dont know if i did it quite right, but thanks a million Matthew. I had an avi file sitting on my harddrive for over a year and half, and finally was able to convert it with proper audio sync!

Thanks. jsoto's delaycut was the solution!
