I have the above card and receive all the Freeview channels just fine, and recording also works. However, sometimes glitches get introduced into the video, and I can't find a satisfactory way to repair them without getting loss of A/V sync when encoding to xvid/x264.

When I cut and repair the MPG using VideoRedo, and load my AVS file and mpa/wav audio into VDub, the sync is fine, but when I re-encode, the sync is lost.

Any ideas? Any software I should be using for repair/cutting instead that might fix the problem?

I get those drop outs too (same card/software as you). I don't know if it's some kind of bug/limitation of the card, or just if the signal is a bit too weak and breaks up.

I was suggested to use webscheduler, which allows me to dump a complete transport stream (very nice). You can't watch it in real time AFAIK, but it might reduce or eliminate timing errors or dropouts.

Other than that, I've had to resort to finding the corruption in the stream and using trim on it in avisynth. Not a nice job to do with a long film, and the end result is nasty too.

Thanks for the reply. I'll give WebScheduler a go on one of my caps tonight and see if it handles recoding better. I suspect it's not the card, just the Hauppauge software or perhaps signal breakup.

In any event, I'll post back with results (p.s. go make more long posts in the h264 thread on asuki :p ).

Ok, woke up to my finished encode (capped using webscheduler), and it was much better. There was still very minor audio desync towards the end, but it's way better than previous attempts. :)
