Is it possible to re-encode the menu's only?
I have a disc which is a bit to large and has a big menu. This way i can keep the main movie untouched.
Thanks in advance

hmm how about reducing the menus with menushrink as urvieh said ? or vobblanker ? or dvdremake ?
or they can even be transcoded with dvdshrink.

I'm sorry, forgot to mention i have DvdRemake and always reduce the size by stripping all unwanted content.
I'd like to re-encode the menu's cause they're look really good, i think it's a waste to convert them to still.
DvdShrink is not option cause i don't like the quality, think the bitrate is to low for dvdshrink, and i would like to pay for NuMenu4U but not if i'm going to use it just once.
Leaves me not much options then to do everything manually.

Give me a minor version or two for that. I plan to add the capability to select an alternate encoder for different segments. So in your case you could choose to do the entire disc as "No Compression" -- and then just select a different encode method for the menu segment(s).

@roux: Why not load the disc in DVDShrink, set "no compression" for the rest of the movie and just recode the menu? Save the files to a new directory and load them into DVD-RB ...

Is this implemented with the automatic detection and extraction of segments that don't need reencoding?
I don't understand entirely how this works.

It's a step in that direction.. but not yet.

a work around would/could be : strip every thing bar the menu using pgcedit, run it through dvdrb then ecl optimize the bitrate down enough, encode and compile then replace all the stripped vobs backin and use IFOupdate app to fix it up again.
