is there a prg to convert KVCD to AVI.

I have a DIVX stand alone player, and I can not burn a kvcd movie on a dvd disc.
can I change it to AVI and then burn & play it?

Yikes! Yes you should be able to do it, but the final result probably won't be very good. VirtualDub should be able to do this. Many Divx encoders can do this too. Why don't you just burn the KVCD to CD-R? My Philips DVP-642 can play them. I only made one KVCD and it was just to have one for testing purposes. The whole point of KVCD is to make movies fit on one CD-R by using bizarre GOP sizes and ridiculously low bit rates, so I'm not sure why you think it must be burned to DVD. You can't burn VCD format to DVD discs, so maybe that's your real problem. Assuming it will fit on one CD-R, burn it as a non-compliant VCD. If it's too big for one CD-R, then whoever made it doesn't understand the purpose of the format. It's NOT to get movies in as high quality as possible, it's to jam as many minutes as possible on one CD-R disc in a format vaguely resembling VCD so that (hopefully) DVD players will play it.
