Dual CPU support [Archive]

I upgraded my system to Dual prosessor in hope that DivX encoding would be faster. It is faster now ( DivX 6.1 ) But I still wonder why my AMD 4800 X2 prosessor is working only 15 % load. If I am encoding a movie, Win task manager shows that 2 CPU's are working, but only 15 % load. If I encode DVD using DVD Schrink program, I can see in task manager that both CPU's are in 100 % load. And it goes really fast!! Operating system is Win XP sp2 home edition. Does it help any if I use Win XP 64bit system?

Which encoding apps/frame servers/source formats are you using?

I use an original converter that came together with DivX 6.1 download package. And source format is .vob.

DivX Converter doesn't currently use both processors when processing VOB files.

It's okay. I am very satisfied with DivX encoder today. It has been through a lot and a developement has been huge. The best thing for me is that there is a lot DivX certified DVD players on the market and now it is possible to choose subtitels and languages with DVD player's remote control. Thank's a lot for DivX team!

AFAIK Win XP Home doesn't support dual CPU. Win XP Pro & Win XP 64-bit does.

dont confuse DUAL CORE with DUAL PROCESSOR... it's a completely different thing.
athlon64 x2 is a DUAL CORE CPU and xp home supports it.
