Hi there,
today I just wanted to convert some good old c64 tunes that I once had recorded from original SID output as wave files to ogg vorbis for storage reasons.
While most of the transcoding went fine, there were some tunes which made a lot of trouble. To give you a better idea of the results rather than trying to describe I uploaded it here (http://rapidshare.de/files/12814146/Giana_-_no_score.7z.html). Including original wav, ogg, mp4 aka HE-AAC, lame mp3 and the corresponding log file for ogg transcode. The other transcodes where made with the same options unless encoder specific.
As you can hear, lame mp3 was the only one to produce correct output.
AAC kind of slowed down while ogg showed heavy distortion.

Every non encoder specific option was not set except output stereo (using belight 0.2.2 beta9 - but similar with besweet used directly via Besweet GUI).
Trying mono output didn't make it, also different settings which effect the dynamic won't.

used libs:
libvorbis.dll_lancer 31-01-2006
lame_enc.dll v1.32 Engine 3.97
Nero AAC.dll v3.0.0.3 aacenc.dll 4.2.1.0 via bsn.dll

I have no idea what went wrong, for it only happened with some of the tunes... and the original wav play fine!
Any ideas?

what command line you used for OGG?

I see no upload
but nevermind, give this a try

the main program, an audio converter
http://www.download.com/dBpowerAmp-Music-Converter/3000-2140-10042534.html?part=dl-dBpowerAm&subj=uo&tag=button

the vorbis encoder (lancer), download either autov or optimized ones, don't download the standard, autov is more tuned than standard
http://www.dbpoweramp.com/codec-central-ogg.htm

Nero AAC
http://www.dbpoweramp.com/codec-central-mp4.htm

OK, now encode again with vorbis quality "5"

Hm, that was not the point of my post, I sure will stick with belight/besweet and will eventually try avisynth audio transcoding soon.
It is certainly not a task of degree of quality. There must be an error in the way the wav file is fed to the encoder.
You'll find the command line within the archive.
Concerning vorbis encoder, read: I already am using an optimized one. Lancers version is optimized speedwise.

update:
Tried megui with NeroAAC with the exact same result!

foobar2000 with the vorbis diskwriter output plugin works fine just so you know.
