View Full Version : 2.26 AVIs are there, but not ... r u n n i n g !

how do i says this? 2.26 seems to create great AVIs, either full or split to size tried, but they do not run. neither on any computer player, nor on a standalone.

everything done with AUTOGK up to 2.20 works fine.

loading the AVI for example into a player (tried a multitude of them), i can for example move the slider across and see every still picture in the movie, like a million of them, they are all there, from the opening to the credits. but the movie does not move (copyright on that lovely sentence!).

using Xvid as always, no special but default settings everywhere. even went back and started the entire sequence with DVD DECR YPTER, same result.

yes, Divx is lurking in the background (how can i find out which version DLL it is?), but is not used at all. can it still influence AUTOGK?

is there a point bothering you with a sample log file (which to me looks perfectly normal)? or am i doing something wrong that everybody knows about and you will just laugh about me?

PLEASE, will somebody try to assist or comment? just guide me into the right direction ... i just tried again today (maybe thinking it had gone away past week, kindof overnight), but get the same result: a solid one million still pictures per movie.

am i really the only one experiencing this?

Well it seems you are the only one experiencing this problem which can explain the no-responses.

Let's try a problem resolution approach.

1/It can be your installation -> try playing on another machine
2/It can be your encoding -> try another encoder or an older version
3/It can be your configuration -> try installing the same encoder/player on another configuration and compare
3/It can be any mix of the above or else ...

Anyhow, thanks to :logfile: , try any of the above and report back. In the meantime somebody else may have other ideas, tips or recommandations.

Did, tks at least for answering.

re (1), have till next week only this machine available

re (2), yes, as i said, it worked fine with v2.20. reinstalling 2.20 also works, fwd again to 2.26 does not.

re (3), se (1) and (2) above

re logfile, i did ask if i should. now that you cfm this, i will, given me an hour and i create a fresh one.

re ''no sense of humor'': you would get some if you see thru my million still pictures.

re SKYPE: sure i do, do you?

have now also installed the alternate DIVX.DLL, which i am not sure has anything to do with it since i am using Xvid always.

well, after 4+ hrs i will have a log, lets see then. have reinstalled the DivX DLL that was installed with 2.26, but then (another 4+ hrs later) will also try the alternate (much smaller ?) one that is mentioned elsewhere here.

it does not really want to get into my mind why the DivX DLL has anything to do with my encoding, when i use Xvid exclusivly (checked the log and the resulting AVI file), but there is anyhow another strange things that bothers me:

in resulting AVI files (from 2.20, which works), clearly Xvid ones, there still comes the fading-out DivX logo at the very beginning of every file. does that make sense at all? where and why would that come from, in a Xvid file?

greetings, a still fairly baffled - heinz-

play your avi with videolan client (could be a wrong decoder select, try istalling ffdshow and play with mediaplayer classic)

next, open with gspot and post your data.

For a test you could use a movie as small as possible or just one vob (copy in separate directory)

That's a known one: divx de-coder is used and in the configs you have a checkmark to uncheck (or something like that, use search) or uninstall divx :)

- MEDIA PLAYER CLASSIC i had tried, same result.

- LOGO: XVID is checked, DIVX is unchecked in setup.
-- log says i am using Xvid.
--- resulting AVI, various checking progs incl gspot say i have used Xvid
---- still shows DIVX logo when starting

really got me here too. result on the other issue in an hour or so.

PS: got it, at least that part: unchecking generic support and checking remove logo in the DIVX setup does the trick.
