which HC from the folder

i don't use the full installer, so i have to install HC myself but when i open the folder, it has two, HCenc_017 and HCgui_017. which one do i use when setting up RB-pro.? thanks.

and please tell me whats the latest Avisynth or which version should i be using. thanks.

If you install it from the HC zip, you have to use HCenc_17.exe -- and if you want DVD-RB to recognize it automatically you will need to rename it to HCBatch.exe or HCBatch_17.exe. If you browse for the path under setup it makes no difference.

But.... if you look in the DVD-RB zip file available for download you will see that only one EXE exists and it has already been named properly.

on the rename part, i have never ever renamed HC, i only point it to RB in the setup and i have never had a problem.

That will work fine. You never would have renamed it before -- because I think it was always named HCBatch before.
