Heya,

I've downloaded a few AVI splitter softwares (shareware/trial) but none of them are really user friendly. Any suggestions ?

My wishlist: Video preview, Manual input of time-span (using keyboard not mouse marks) and filenames to be saved, no recompression. (other features can be there as long as these exist)

So far I've tried:

Ultra video splitter (no option to save without recompressing, no manual time)
AVI splitter (problem with codecs, no manual input of time)
AVI/MPEG/WMV splitter by Boilsoft (best but no update for 2yrs, has sync problems when saving some xvids)
Advanced AVI Splitter, no manual input, and didn't even work.
Easy Video Splitter , ok but can't name files or split by entering time.

...so any other programs you could suggest? I'll try them all :)

Um, virtualdub?

ctrl-G to bring up frame# / time goto. Set video to direct stream copy, save. (Can also demux audio, though that's better supported in vdubmod.) VBR audio may cause some sync issues, but that's an issue with avi and not the splitter.

Hmm yeah thanks. I never did use virtualdub for this purpose (with direct stream copy) but it does the job pretty good now that I tried it. Just one thing is missing... to select the segments to be saved by entering start and end time with my keyboard while also showing a preview. I have yet t try the 1.6.12 version though.

oh nearly there heh

Edit: Oh Btw the info about VBR audio was very helpful too
