"Wallace & Gromit" DVD Shrink error 'Invalid Data In File'

Salutations Gents and Gals!!

Decrypted "Wallace & Gromit" using DVDFab Decrypter (latest version) and encountered an error when trying to load into DVD Shrink. I processed it through VobBlanker to clean it up and expected it to load into Shrink with no problem as it has always worked before. However, after finishing up with VobBlanker, I encountered the same "Invalid Data In File" error with the new file as I did with the old file.

Please help me get rid of this headache!!

Despite the fact that I had taken him to see it in the theatre, my grandson insisted that I purchase this Region 1 (same as your region) DVD - which I, of course, did ;>}

This DVD has NO special protection.

I ripped it with DVD Decrytper v.3.5.4 (No need to use DVDFab Decrypter) and then compressed, without any problem whatsoever, with DVD Shrink.

There is absolutely no need to use VOBBlanker on this DVD...

ok. I'll give that a shot. It's just puzzling why I would have problems when using DVDFab and Shrink and presumingly no problems using DDecrypter and Shrink.

If it was a "CRC" (Cyclical Redundancy Error), it may be that your original, purchased DVD is simply physical damaged or dirty - and since DVDFab Decrypter purportedly writes dummy sectors when it encounters damaged/unreadable sectors, you could have been misled into believing that you had a "good rip"...

Nope wasn't the disc. I took the route that you mentioned with DDecrypter and Shrink and the process went smoothly.
It's very odd that it would work perfectly with DDecrypter and Shrink, but when you use DVDFab instead, it makes Shrink react as though there is Arccos or something. When you try to load it into Shrink it says "Invalid Data In File" and "DVD Shrink cannot continue" as if it would if the film was encrypted with Arccos. But after running it through VobBlanker, it seems as though there is no change and the same error message comes up when trying to load the new file into Shrink.

I guess you just have to make sure you use every possible combination of programs before you can come to the conclusion that you're stumped.

I copied the movie just fine with "shrink" by itself. Why do you need to use DVD Decrypter?

For me, it's force of habit to start with DVD Decrypter (back to before DVD burning existed) as "Step 1" in creating .AVIs. Additionally, with DVD Shrink unable to directly "rip" so many recent releases, I find it simpler to automatically start with DVD Decrypter v.3.5.4, if I'm going the "freeware-only" route...

Can anyone please help???? I've been using DVDShrink and found no probs so far.However, aboe film would not decrypt and I keep getting message "redundancy cyclical error". Film did not even transfer to hardrive until I installed DVD Decrypter. Now it is on harddrive (and I can view it from there, which is better than before) but I STILL get same error message when I try to rip onto disc from file. Can you please help...I'm at my wit's end with this. I assume because it is on harddrive, there must be SOME way of putting it onto disc.!!!!????

(You really should have started a separate, new thread - because this thread is about "Wallace & Gromit)
If I remember correctly, once you've used DVD Decrypter v.3.5.4 in "File" mode (Select "ALL files", NOT just "movie files") to successfully rip a DVD "package" to your hard drive, load the "package" into VOBBlanker and press "Process"...

I also always start with DVD Decrypter. I have a HD TV and can't tolerate any additional compression. So, if I can't get a whole movie onto one disk without compression, I use an old copy of "DVDFab" ( not DVD Fab Decrypter) to split the disk into two. DVDFab requires an already ripped disk to work. As more and more titles won't fit a DVD5, it's just easier to rip first and then figure out how to process.
