The 2 new features in this version, namely menu compression and multiple encoder functionality look very cool. I have been waiting for the former feature since the whole Rebuider concept started!

A few questions / observations on this -

1. Would it not make more sense to add the threshold setting for this to the options menu tree - would make things a bit easier.

2. What compression setting is used? I assume its going to be dependent on the settings used for the main VTS plus the Half D1 options. Typically, I don't care at all about menu vob quality and want to compress to the "maximum" possible. However, in most cases the movie menu is on the same VTS as the movie so ideally you need to be able to set the compression value for the menu independently of the main VTS. Currently I am using DVD Shrink to do this in the pre-processing stage as I find its the simplest and quickest method (Nu Menu is a great tool but I find it a little to complex and also prone to crashing to often). Can a way of independently setting menu compression be implemented?

3. I have not used the "Segment Editor" yet since I always work in Single click mode and I understand its only available once the Prepare phase is done. Currently I do all my vob blanking (menus and other) using Vob Blanker which I find to be very reliable and works fine with all recent version of Rebuilder. What would be VERY useful is if Rebuilder could do vob blanking before the Prepare stage and then we would at long last have everything in one application and allow an easy sequential process of Blanking>Encoding (including Menus)>Rebuild. All that pre-processing stuff is a pain!

That is not possible... why don't you use Rebuilder using "Two Click Mode"... meaning... you run Prepare... then you blank/slide show and then click Rebuild... Rebuilder will Encode and Rebuild in one step... You can even check "Shutdown after Rebuild" option.

I tend to agree that using vob blanking in 1 click mode would be "PERFECT", spesially when you want to do some backups in batch mode during night or several ones during week-end.

just as dvd shrink does an initial scan when loading, think of the prepare stage as the loading section. After that, it is one click.

That would be OK if you don't want to do Batch runs. I tend to batch my work into overnight runs so this is a problem. Correct me if I am wrong about this, but I don't think there is a way of running the batch mode in conjunction with a job that has the scan phase completed? This actually would be a very good feature to add, you could either have the the .RBD save file contain the prep script or simply have a reference to the relevant folder.

You simply check "Skip Prepare Phase in Batch" from the File Menu.

Not sure this is going to work. I just did the Prepare phase and then did some blanking out of Menu vob's using the editor. I saved the changes and the message was "Saved Changes in the Prepare Folder". Normally I recycle my Prepare folder, in other words I just use the same one and let Rebuilder overwrite the previous data. If I do all my Prepare steps first then I assume this is not going to work.

I guess the way round this is to use a dedicated prepare folder for each backup?

Yes that's correct.
