I thought I'd share this information, which I've not seen documented anywhere, in the event that it's not common knowledge:

While trying to work with my hard drive version of my "Festival Express" DVD, SmartRipper, and Muxman v.0.15 to create a true VideoDVD of only the audio tracks and a blank (black) screen, I discovered that MuxMan would not accept the SmartRipper-ripped .AC3 audiostreams (one for each chapter) for input.

So I decided to perform the same stream processing, using the actual DVD and DVD Decrypter (I really wish DVD Decrypter also worked directly with hard drive DVD "packages"). MuxMan readily accepted these .AC3 audiostreams, which were ever-so-slightly smaller than those ripped by SmartRipper.

I then ran the SmartRipper .AC3 audiostreams through "AC3Fix" and, 'lo and behold, they were now acceptable to MuxMan!

did you also try besplit to fix these AC3 streams?No, I didn't. Once I resolved the situation for completing my project, I was a happy (but still curious) camper ;>}

My purpose in posting this thread is to point out this apparent anomaly in using SmartRipper - and seeking understanding as to why it exists...
