View Full Version : Question on ripping with copy protection and DGINDEX

Just a quick question. I usually use DVD D to rip my movie in IFO mode-movie only and AC3 track so I can load it in DGINDEX. That way I can encode my movies to mkv format and put two movies on a dvd. The question is it appears all these tools to get around the ARCOSS or Ripguard protection require the dvd to be ripped in FILE mode. So what do I do? I don't believe DGINDEX accepts File mode and if it does, then I"m stuck with the whole contents of the dvd and not the movie only. I'd like to be able to just get the main movie and AC3 track, then load it into DGINDEX.

Any help would be appreciated.

(I'm not personally familiar with DGINDEX)You could first rip in "File" mode to your hard drive - and then use SmartRipper to extract the desired streams from the DVD "package" on your hard drive...

Does this then output in IFO mode? My end result must be IFO.

Let me ask this another way. How do I rip a dvd to IFO mode if it has copy protection?

You have to rip your DVD by IFO mode (stream processing) to see the correct PGC (a movie can have multiple PGC) to use. After that you can create your d2v by DGindex.
The problem now with ArCCos protected movie comes from the bad structure caused by dummy sectors inserted by DVDD.
FixVTS can easily correct it only through PGCEdit (but it is only in file mode).
After that you are able to use the IFO mode with Smartripper or rejig and create your d2v with DGindex.:)

So if I understand this correctly, I have to use DVD Decrypter to rip in File Mode, then use something like Vobblanker or FixVTS to remove the dummy sectors, then load this into SmartRipper and save in IFO mode? Is that the correct process?

1) Use the PSL2 plugin for PGCEdit in wizzard mode.
Go to www.forum.digital-digest.com/ for more details [DVDD section].
2) After that, if the movie contains only one PGC, you can use directly DGIndex.
3) If the movie has multiple PGC, so you have to extract the main PGC by
Rejig or PGCDemux or SmartRipper.
