Yep. They fixed audio issue, when IN point was different then 0. Problem appears because diferents beetwen QT 7 and 6.

If you set different value than Dc=10 and use multipass encoding you will get always 10 in final file. It appear always with PAL source and sometimes with NTSC (source is quicktime I'm not sure about avi).

Im new to CCE. We have been using DVD Architect v3 and I am not happy with the output...to have gone to all the effort of shooting then editing and end up with what we do, i want to try CCE. I've been reading up on it in this group and am on the confused side. Anyway I d/l'd the v2.70.02.06 and there seems very little of it. There seems little to treak. I will be using the PAL DVD template. What about settup for things like interlaced or progressive. Is all that supposed to be part of the d/l?

Any advice you guys acan pass on would be greatly appreciated. have heard it is the best encoder on the market under $2001;) and I would love to see the work we do looking as good as it does on the Vegas editing bench.

Besides, the client deserves the best!

the trial version is complete. only thing is the logo and the 30 day limit. but all features are there. the documentation (pdf) that comes with it pretty much describes it all. for authoring masters i would advise i high amount of passes. (6 ) although people say its not worth the time past 3-4 passes, for masters, even small improvements are worth it.

it is purely an encoder.. does not do any dvd authoring.

In the UI there is no ability to change the VBR. I cant even see a window that tells me the CBR. There is no help file either. Have I got the right software? Yes..I d/l'd it fromtheri site. v2.70.02.06 I can get Pal DVD and thats about it.

Now I'm happy... just discovered [after reading about it] that right clicking on the imported avi file reveals all the jewels of CCE. So thx anyway...
But if you do have any hints on getting me up to speed I'd apprecuate it.

Can someone point me to a recent workflow tutorial please. I am using CCE 2.70.02.04 not .06 as stated earlier.

I'd love to be able to understand this program.

It's my first go at it and I hear it is the best encoder around. I need high quailty images video programs I produce on DVD. I have gone to a lot of trouble to shoot these images and have been dissapointed with the results from Main Concept that comes bundled with Vegas 6 that I use for editing.
Our workflow in the past has been Edit in Vegas, Encode in Main Concept and Author in DVDA. The resulting DVD's are flat [lack contrast and colour saturation] and are unsharp ie lack of focus. So as you can see I am not happy with that outcome. Hence venturing into CCE. But I need to know the worflow. And rather than use the tools in the tute "How to Convert AVI to DVD + AC3 with CCE and AC3Machine", which is packed with valuable information, would like to use some other tools, such as DVDA or Adobe Encore for the authoring. We just did our first test. Encoded using the very basic settings in CCE [cos we are clueless] and brought up DVDA. The vision and audio are all there. Haven't checked sync though.

So does anyone have experience using this combo? Have you found any problems?

In the Simple settings -
I am uing a test which is an avi file rendered in Vegas 6...do I use Natural? I see that if I slide the fLAT/complicated slider right Detail Settings/Caption can go up to Natural 5. And a whole pile of other settings change as well.

Is is Progressive [do i only ose progressive for screening on a computer monitor orfor a tv as well?]

If i can get a handle on this program and the quality is as good as they say I am going to be very happy.

Hi-

The best advice I can give is to use AviSynth for frameserving. If your AVI is in the RGB colorspace and you just dump it into CCE, you'll be having it do the RGB->YUY2 conversion, and AviSynth is much better for this than is CCE. Plus, you can do any filtering necessary within AviSynth.

I disagree with some of his recommendations. One of the ones I disagree with is his advice to leave the matrix at default. For best quality, I would suggest using a better matrix than the default Standard Matrix. Get one from a good quality DVD. Or fill in these numbers, call it Fox, and use it instead:

There is no need to change default matrix in CCE 2.7x, because it will change it by itself (if you have unchecked Disable Adaptive Qmatrix switching). What is faniest even if you start with default matrix, you will find after few gops very simmilar to FOX:)

You know something, kolak? You're right! And even Doom9 in his guide has the box unchecked. So people following the guide will get the Standard Matrix with AQ, which is pretty good, and much better than the Standard Matrix alone. Thank you for the correction.
