"ARccOS" and Wasted Disc Space

It's disappointing to note how much DVD space is apparently utterly wasted, thanks to the current iteration of "ARccOS" copy protection.

If you load a DVD such as "The Fog" R1 onto your PC, you'll note that Windows indicates the total disc size to be something like 7.85Gb. However, if you "Open" the DVD, highlight all of the folders, rightclick, and select "Properties", you'll see a combined filesize of something like 7.47Gb. The difference between the two would appear to be the space occupied by the "bad sectoring" utilized by the "ARccOS" copy protection. If this is so, it's a disgraceful and disappointing waste of space...

Of course, from their point of view, they reckon there's plenty of space left on the DVD for their shenanigans. They think what we do in protecting our investment is disgraceful.

Just so long as we can get rid of it.

This would explain the "file to large" process error that some have been recieving through DVDShrink. Thanks for the heads up!

@greentech - that error would indicate the ARccOS has not been totally removed.

And the obvious always seems to arise. What I was refering to, was the questions asked in previous posts, where members asked "what causes this error". Of course some ARccOS is left behind, which is cleared up by VobBlanker, but this "wasted space" actually explains the root cause of the error.
