I've been capturing from a Hauppauge PCI Nova-T to .ts using WebScheduler for about six weeks now. I've converted the recordings to DVD by demuxing the .ts and creating DVD from the elementary streams using DVD-lab Pro. Until today, all the DVDs created this way have played back fine on a stand-alone Philips DVD625 player.
I've just come across one recording which the DVD plays fine for about 10 minutes and then starts to freeze and stutter. Running MPEG2Repair shows almost no errors, so I assume in this case the problem arises because the stream is not DVD compliant -- perhaps the GOPs are too long? (The recording is 720 x 576 16:9, taken from BBC1.)
So I wanted to ask: is there anyway to tweak these things so they play all right without actually reencoding?
