I have a Liteon LVW-5006, and today I recorded a DVD in "EP" mode (4-hr).
I want to make 2 copies of it, but when I rip it with DVD Decrypter, the filesize is over 7GB - but it's only a 4.7GB disc! Then when I try to use DVD Shrink, it says "Invalid DVD structure" - yet it plays fine on all players I've tried.
Any suggestions? How can there be 7GB of data on a 4.7GB disc?
Here's what I got on another forum:
it appears that the VR format used seems to create 2 copies of everything on the disk when you try to rip the video from it. I assume it keeps a sort of master version and an edited version, although in reality one of them is virtual (ie the changes exist in one of the .ifo files or something).
When a ripping proggy reads the disk, it lists both sets of data, hence giving the impression of there being twice as much as there really is.
...but is there a solution for only ripping the data I need? Obviously DVD Decrypters "IFO mode" isn't much use, since I want to make a complete backup, and not just rip certain sections.
