hybrid progressive/interlaced

i just analyzed a dvd videosource through MeGUI and it suggested to me

"source is declared hybrid progressive/interlaced. This should be deinterlaced by a deinterlacer that tries to weave it before deinterlacing. Source is declared tff by a margin of 356 to 12."

any suggestions to clean this source up for encoding?

I don't see why you came over here. Just as MeGUI gives that recommendation, it also gave a recommendation of how to process it, in the deinterlace filter list (it lists the filters in descending order of recommendation, and it selects the first one, which it deems the 'best'). I believe that it would have recommended TDeint with full=false to you, then FieldDeinterlace and FieldDeinterlace (no blend).

From what I've gathered, TDeint is a good approach for that sort of thing, so that's why I listed it first. Do the deinterlacing gurus agree?

i don't see why you came here.
this is an avs usage question. the fact that megui is giving me suggestions on what to use does not mean i can't ask for a better solution from the gurus that is didee or others here.
i mean, i like what megui does, but i always alter my avs script to my usage such as using limitsharpen or other functions that gives me a better encode (to my eyes).

in any case, i was hoping for some combo advice from the people here, such as using tdeint with some other deinterlacer. using tdeint improves the picture alot but i still see faint jaggedness or interlace when people move.
