any bad downlodes with dvdfabdecrypter 2.9.7.0

i went to dvdidle to update to dvdfabdecrypter 2.9.7.0 when i went to open it i got a notice from norton that it had a virus. anyone have the same problem or is it just me . i tryed it twice and got the same notice. thanks phil

you could try update your norton if it doesn't do it automagically (autoupdate never seemed to work on my old machine, no matter what i did). or you could report a false positive to Norton and give them a link to the file (or the file itself. i'm not sure how that sort of thing works).

sometimes virus scanners show up legit programs as virii.

Symantec is detecting "winfixer" in that file. Winfixer is a spyware. Most likely it is a false positive. But it's something that would require some experimenting and researching to determine whether it's the case.

it was norton, updated today with no problem

Norton detected winfixer in my download of dvdfabdecrypter 2.9.7.0 also.

... Most likely it is a false positive. ... I agree. I have downloaded and installed it. None of the Symptoms described in the symantec web page for "winfixer" (http://securityresponse.symantec.com/avcenter/venc/data/winfixer.html) are present on my PC.

Yes, I didn't mention that I checked the registry for entries that Norton said "winfixer" uses, and didn't find any. Hopfully false alarm.

I am glad I read this thread! I got a virus alert for win fixer 2 days ago, everything seemed fine, norton took care of it, then my email wouldn't send or receive at all unless I shut down my norton. I didn't realize until reading this that this all happened after I got the new fab. I had to completely un install norton and re install, now I guess I better check fab to make sure it still works or if norton removed or quarantined the win fixer file you say it needs to work.
