Hi all! I'm looking for an .ac3 file that could be used for setting up 5.1 surround speakers similar to this. (http://download.microsoft.com/download/winmediatech40/Utility/1.0/W98NT42KMeXP/EN-US/6channel.exe)

Preferably one with a guy saying "front right", "front left" etc. The one in the link above is a .wav file. The reason I want an .ac3 file specifically is because I'm using linux and I can't find the correct mapping for my speakers using alsa. Using the wav file from the above link everything is in place but when I play any movie dialogs come out from the left surround speaker. And I'm sure that's not the only thing that is wrong here.

The first link in this page (http://www.digital-digest.com/dvd/downloads/trailers.php) seemed to be what I needed but I can't play that file at all with mplayer under linux.

I posted this in the audio forum, since I believe it's more of an audio issue than a linux issue.

Hi!

If I remember correctly, any DVD that contains "THX" audio includes the type of program you're seeking...

I have some "speaker mapping" test files in "Area 51" of my web site.

Here's a direct link to the page (http://www.seemoredigital.net/51_Test_Encodes/51_AV_Setup_Test_Files.html).

Cheers

Thanks everyone! As I was suspecting not only my center channel was mapped to my right surround, but also my left surround to the center channel, LFE to left front and right front to the LFE channel! What a mess...

Again thank you all for your quick responses.
