A while back someone posted a thread that had links to good sample videos to test compression and quality. I can't find it anymore, does someone remember where it is? It might have been either here or in one of the MPEG2 encoder forums.

Just sample videos to test encoding quality. He said they had a lot of complexity in them that made them great videos to test the quality with.

The Apple HD trailers is certainly a good place to try:

Resize 1080p down to DVD res and you'll have close to the equivalent of an uncompressed source, too.
