Thanks, but I think I'll never use any muxer which not let me set the font and position for subtitles like your srttobmp does.

theres also a divxmuxgui called"avi2sub" but it lacks all the good features of srt2bmp

Very cool. I was looking for a way to name my audio and subtitle tracks with their proper language instead of "Audio Track #1" etc. This is very handy.

You need to have it support (or at least list in the sub window) *.xsub subtitles as well...

Maybe you could expand this program to insert chapter points too? *hopeful wishing*

The best way right now is combining the two programs, SRT2BMP and DivXMuxGUI.

I agree with Mtz that SRT2BMP is best cause you have complete control over your subtitles appearance but due to the fact that it uses the old muxing method (fuse.exe) it doesn't add descriptions to the audio/subtitle tracks and most importantly the type of subtitle (normal/letterbox/widescreen) which feature DivX Ultra players will read for the proper display of subtitles.

So, the best method for making the most compatible file, is to create the subtitles as you want them in SRT2BMP and render them as .xsub, then open up DivXMuxGUI, input your .avi (for both video/audio) selecting the appropriate descriptions and your .xsub for subtitle (it accepts it, just select All files (*.*) and select the xsub file, it will mux it just fine - feature version will have the extension added) and also selecting the appropriate descriptions (paying attentions at subtitle type - normal is best for using subtitles in both letterbox/widescreen assuming that your video is 16:9).

As a test try to mux a .divx with the old way (using SRT2BMP) and with the new way I am suggesting here. Then open both of them in DivX Player 6.1. You will see that the subtitles with the first method appear very very small but with the second method, they appear correctly. This indicates that the 'subtitle type' does matter. This makes no difference on currect standalone divx players.
