What's the difference between these two?Also what type of output an hdtv-out device uses?For example my geforce2 has tv-out and it's an s-video out.

tvout = svideo = 480 lines
hdtv = DVI = 1080 lines (or more ;))

I'm especially concerned about this card.

http://www.gigabyte.com.tw/Products/VGA/Products_Overview.aspx?ProductID=1228

It doesn't say anything about hdtv-out,on the site it says only tv-out although it also says "Supports HDTV function and HDTV cable enclosed" so i'm confused,will i have hdtv output or what?

thanx.

It looks like the HDTV accessory is a VIVO device that supports inputing/outputing video to/from your HDTV using a component connection.

If you have a DVI plug, you can do HDTV. Any cheap card can do it now :)

Well i'm concerned actually cause the card i mentioned above says tv-out and not hdtv-out.

I know i can use a converter cable but will i have ignal loss,and be restricted to 480 lines that you mentioned?

my X800XL AIW AGP has dual DVI and "tvout". So I can plug RCA, Svideo, HDTV, etc.

HDTV uses component, DVI or HDMI (which is DVI + audio). I suggest you have a read about what HDTV is...

I know what hdtv is.If you have a tv-out card,then how can you plug an hdtv cable?

I said it many times, you need a DVI outout. Not svideo, DVI.

Yes i got that!The gigabyte that i mentioned has dvi/i which means i can have dvi nd hdmi output finctions.But can i have component from the dvi output,or is component output achieved through hdtv-out?

Sorry if i have confused you,i appreciate your help.

hum... component is analog while DVI is digital. My AIW X800XL only have rca, svideo and dvi. no component.

Some say that component is better than dvi,although it's analogue,so i really want to have component as well on the card i choose to purchase.

actually DVI should be better since it will suffer less from noise. My friend is plugged with DVI on his 64" HDTV and it's perfect!

Your friend has a 64" screen?Dude where did he get such thing?I didn't know they existed!Here on Greece where i'm located the Best TV i've seen is a Panasonic 50" Plasma at like 10.000 euros!

It's a projector-based (6) screen, and the price was around 3000$ CAD a year ago.

Panasonic has a 70" plasma screen - I walked by one at an electronics store and it happened to be on Discovery HD. It was like looking out a huge window. Cost: $15,000 USD.

the problem with plasma is that logos and other non-moving pictures can "print" in the TV forever :(
