WinXP Pro SP2, 3 Port Ultra PCI 1394 Firewire Card (2 Ext/1 Int) (ULT31342)
firewire PCI card and 6 pin to 4 pin cable not recognizing my
Panasonic GS50 dv camera.
PC device manager sees the firewire card but nothing happens after making
the camera to PC connection via the firewire cable. Already replaced cable and tried a different dv camera but got same result. Where should I go from here?

Try a different card maybe. But before doing this, you might want to try plugging the cable into different ports. You say you have 3, maybe one doens't work?
Also, do scan for hardware changes in PC device manager just to see if it will then pick it up.

Just to throw out the obvious, you have to make sure your camcorder is powering up.

Tried all of the above, pulled the card and have started looking for
a replacement (sigh). . .
I've seen other posts stating that XP SP2 is sensitive to 1394 chipset mfgr
so I guess I'll be looking at that too. . .
