DVD Decryptor 3.5.4 won't rip DVDs made by Sony

DVD Decryptor 3.5.4 works great on almost all the DVDs that I have tried to rip. For about the past month, I have had 6 DVDs that won't rip. Thats 6 different movies that I have tried to rip using 3 different computers for each. The only thing that I can see that the DVDs have in common is that they are all "Sony Pictures Home Entertainment" movies. Is Sony doing something new to their DVDs that won't let the program work? And if so, is there a new version of DVD Decryptor on its way? Or is there another program that will rip these DVDs?

Is Sony doing something new to their DVDs that won't let the program work?Yes. They've created and implemented many variations of "ARccOS" copy protection.

This can be dealt with in several different ways. Here are some, if not all, of them:

1) PGCEdit plus plugins and "wizard", plus DVD Decrypter v.3.54

2) DVD95Copy

3) DVD43free

4) AnyDVD

5) DVDFab Decrypter

Note: DVD95 Copy and AnyDVD are not free. DVD43 seems to be updated only sporadically.

Some folks have problems getting rips from DVD Fab Decrypter to load and shrink properly (although Fengtao, it's author does seem to update the prog frequently).

If you use the procedure outlined in Kill ARccOS in my signature, it will work every time - for free.

DVDFab seems to be working well for me.

DVD95Copy Pro had a couple of bugs:
(1) The movie froze at the very beginning of the opening title, and
(2) it didn't use the entire DVD upon writing.

DVD43free ripped the files to my HDD, but when I tried to write them to DVD the software told me there were errors in the file and that I should try to copy the files again.

DVDFab seems to be working well for me.Glad to hear that this suggestion worked out!DVD95Copy Pro had a couple of bugs:
(1) The movie froze at the very beginning of the opening title, and
(2) it didn't use the entire DVD upon writing.The trial version limits you to about 20 minutes of the DVD. Naturally, the purchased version allows you to rip, compress, and burn the full DVD.Thanks again, all is well for now.My pleasure ;>}

Hi,
As everyone, I was using DVD decrypter and DVD shrink.
Everything went fine until the sony DVD's.
Then I found this very useful post. Thank you.
I used DVDfab decrypter and shrink. It gave me some hard time but worked.
I have a question. Why do people suggest tu use VTS fix or VOB blanker ?
Is there anything more I should worry about ?
DVDfab isn't enough ?

Hey, I've been a longtime user of dvddecrypter. recently incountered my first sony dvd. I would like to thank everyone involved with the pgcedit plugin and wizard, it works like a charm. thanks to all here, and at digital video forum for the great advice.

I keep loosing the link to where PSL files are being uploaded. I created one for Legend of Zoro EE last night and would like to share it if one hasn't already been done. And, even though the plug-in method works great, it would still save time if I could use a PSL file already created. I thought it used to be a sticky around here. Thanks.:thanks:

@Fishious - the plugin is so automated it creates the PSL2 for you without risk. But if you wanna find some, here's a good thread.

Thanks, I have in fact seen that thread, and in the third post Cynthia comments that she will add a PSL to the "list". At one time there was a link to comprehensive list of PSLs around somewhere. I guess it's gone, maybe at AfterDawn. Anyway, the PSL for LOZ has been posted on the above thread several times, so it's moot. I saw a PSL for Transporter 2 there, although I don't recall having a problem backing it up. I'll have to check my backup to see if it's broke.
