View Full Version : Converting ac3 to DDWAV, Sourcecode?

I recently converted some .ac3 files (ripped from DVDs) into DDWAVs with HeadAC3He.
The DDWAVs play fine with my hdd music center, a Hermstedt Hifidelio (www.hifidelio.net) and a Yamaha 5.1 Receiver.
Of course, the amount of disk space needed for the .wav is huge compared to the ac3-file.
I then packed the wavs to .flac, which makes things smaller, but even then the .flac is about 50% bigger than the original .ac3.

So let's come to the question:
Is there anywhere out there a description or source code, which explains the conversion of .ac3 to DDWAV? I think it's pretty simple since HeadAC3He does convert the files in virtually no time, so I believe the Linux-based Hifidelio could convert the ac3 on the fly. This would save a lot of disk space.

Any pointers or hints?
