Encodes three times as high

My experience is this: Setting say 2500 as bitrate, makes XViD 1.1 encode in about 7500. How can that happen?

SORRY - will read the sticky first. I have encoded with XViD for 2 1/2 years, so I thought I did the righ¨t thing with this new 1.1, but, as I said: I saw the sticky, and shall read it at once.....
