View Full Version : Unplayable DVD but playable

Hi,

I have a DVD that cannot be played with DVD players.
It can't be opened with DVD Shrink or DVD Decrypter (error something about overlapped I/O streams or something when using DVD Shrink).

However, playing the VOB files using VLP (a media player) works.

How do I 'fix' this so that I can re-burn it and thus be playable again in a DVD player?

Thank you!

Hi!

Is this an original, purchased DVD, or possibly a burned DVD without .IFO and .BUP files?

If it's an original, purchased DVD, what is the title and Region?

It's an imported vietnamese title.

It has these files:
VIDEO_TS.BUP -12KB
VIDEO_TS.IFO -12KB
VIDEO_TS.VOB -800KB
VTS_01_0.BUP -100KB
VTS_01_0.IFO -100KB
VTS_01_1.VOB -464MB
VTS_01_2.VOB -464MB
VTS_01_3.VOB -464MB
VTS_01_4.VOB -464MB
VTS_01_5.VOB -464MB
VTS_01_6.VOB -464MB
VTS_01_7.VOB -464MB
VTS_01_8.VOB -464MB

It may not contain any copy protection. In Windows Explorer, try simply copying it to your hard drive...

Exactly what happens when you try to use DVD Decrypter to rip it? Does DVD Decrypter generate an error message? If so, EXACTLY whait is the message?

Hm, DVD Decrypter doesn't give any error (I remember I did?)...
But DVD Shrink did. It said "Invalid DVD navigation structure."
IFOEdit opened all IFO files without errors.

When I try to burn them using Nero, it says
"DVD-Video file reallocation failed. The resulting DVD-Video might be unplayable. Do you want to continue?"

Thanks.

If you haven't already done so, since the files DON'T appear to be copy protected, copy all of the files to your hard drive (use DVD Decrypter or do it via Windows Explorer), run the hard drive DVD "package" through "FixVTS" - and then try NERO...

(By the way - if NERO generates that same "File allocation" INFORMATIONAL message, feel free to click on "continue"

Thanks. I did that and burnt it with warning.
However, it does play on my dvd player.

Probably it would play too before applying the fix, but who knows.

Thanks again!
