dvd to x264 guide for ipod?

hi, any chance there is a guide in the works for us mentally challenged types that want to convert dvd to x246 that is ipod compatable? i've been poking around the net and the best i have found is this,

but some of the links for download don't work. the only other option i have seen is the software from Cucusoft, but i would much rather learn how to use meGUI. any thoughts?

teh PD-ipod profile has worked for some I believe http://forum.doom9.org/showthread.php?t=101813&highlight=PD-ipod

but I haven't been able to get it to work. The output files look great, but the won't transfer to the ipod from itunes.

Same problem here. A 320x240@25fps@600kbps x264 video (encoded with default PD-iPod profile) with 160 kbps CBR AAC-LC audio is rejected by iTunes. :confused:

Perhaps the iPod requires the videos to be 30fps?

Yeah, I though so, but the iPod accepts other 25 fps videos just fine.

I encoded the audio again at 128 kbps and now iTunes likes it, but the iPod doesn't play the video, it shows only a black screen.

hmm, i think the ipod using a very similar setup to the PSP now. you could try having a look at my sig for some info, although i dont know if the ipod can handle AAC HE or not :)

MeGUI will contain all the tools you need once you have your ripped VOB from your DVD.

also, use trim in your avisynth script to just test a minute or so of the clip trim (1500,3000) will trim a minute after the first minute for 25fps footage.
