Coreavc.ax DS filter: is 0.4alpha the last "freeware"??? [Archive]

So is this the last freeware? Been searching for updated but looks like the rest will be payware/integrated.

I HOPE teh DS filter will be a ncie paypal shareware system expecially for Doom9 members.

Again, 0.4 is STUNNING - just AMAZING under MCE with my X2 AMD

SOrry - I meant "free to try".

Again, like I said, This is worth paying assuming you make a nice upgrade path etc for those who just want the decoder.

yeah it will be worth its money just wait for all the cool stuff based on those realy fast decoders :) had a look @ the Mpeg-4 Part 2 Decoder and it's also very fast :d

What is the MPEG-4 2 Decoder??? Is that an "experimental trial"??? To replace FFDShow???

Yes, $10 with 1 year of upgrades (decoder only) or a package of encoder and decoder (assuming X2 support) sounds great.

I can't imagine how cool the decoder would be with some simple "XVID" like interface for color, deblock, etc.

I hope the encoder is "nero recode" simple.

and on top of that a lot of money for a gfx card that's not only fast, but is getting hw acceleration shortly so count me out for any payware.

Right but neither Nvidia nor Ati and it's partner ISV will give you that for free either, so i would go and support CoreCodec (better price value) more then Mainconcept, Videosoft , Intervideo or Cyberlink, because their i know the Money is well spend.
And when CoreAVC really gets that Hardware acceleration also then alot of those have to rethink their price policies :)

I still wonder if a closed-source codec really helps the scene. I highly doubt that we would be so far if the XviD or FFMPEG team wouldn't have open-sourced their libs.
I don't believe that the Corecodec guy didn't profit from the Sources by learning from it.

I put a lot of money into a cpu that can handle 1080p without help from payware filters, and on top of that a lot of money for a gfx card that's not only fast, but is getting hw acceleration shortly so count me out for any payware.

When a version of CoreAVC DS comes out with Nvidia hardware support, it'll be immediately worth my money. I'm not going to pay for Nvidia's software because of the way it's limited.

well.. I'm not waiting for anybody.. I can play such content just fine as it is.. I am unlikely to use Purevideo even if they offer the AVC acceleration for free.. it's not like you can get a lot of 1080p content at this point anyway, but even if I could.. you gotta give the poor CPU some numbers to cruch every now and then.

Can I send your CPU about 3000 minutes of NTSC/FILM mix with incorrect pulldown flags that needs to go through a 2-pass cleanup in TITVC then x264 CQ22 into variable framerate Matroska? MY XP1900+ doesn't mind sharing, honest.

Hehe and with the CoreCodec filter you also save CPU consumption wich means your cpu runs cooler, less cooling is needed and so less noise is produced your cpu life is extended and that way you also save a little on your power bill ;D and for Mobile use all the previous value + longer battery life, so you don't have to recharge so often again power bill save ;) so all in all you save alot of Energy in your whole system.

The other Commercial filters give you high price but none of this value :P

For Portable Media Players (PMP) that flooding the market now all of this is essential so not only the PSP will be a fast AVC player :)

if it will be a mpeg-4 asp decoder, "CoreASP" would be a more fitting name...

edit:
mp4 is definitely not a good shortname for a mpeg-4 asp decoder, as you know mpeg-4 also includes far more than only asp (avc, mp4 container...)
apart from that mpeg-4 part2 is more than just advanced simple profile too...

Well there's quite little choice with free and open source codecs. Could it be the only free and open source MPEG4 Decoders are Xvid and libav? for h264 there's even less choice, basically only libav with a still not that brilliant implementation as the one for MPEG4 ASP.

anyways imho not the amount of freely available opensource implementationsis counts. what counts imho is that there is one good freely available opensource implementation available

for h264 there's even less choice, basically only libav with a still not that brilliant implementation as the one for MPEG4 ASP. why should libav not be brilliant? it support every avc feature people are able to use and does it pretty fast

its TBD at this point if we will OS the MPEG-4 decoder... we are leaning that way since AVC is our main focus. Plus we still need to add GMC and QPEL and that is not likely to be for a few more weeks at the earliest.

I quite like the idea of an "ultimate" MPEG-4 (SP/ASP/AVC) direct-show decoder.

As long as such a decoder offers selectivity of the popular 4CC (in AVI) types and comes with automatic anamorphic signalling detection, I'm ready ;)

I thought I answered you... No it will not... especially since we will not have an encoder right away. That does not mean that it is not our plan to eventually do so. There are many things I also cannot say atm till after our launch.

i don't now, but in p3-700 i have playng some clip in MP4 with mplayer in realtime without dropframe (near the 100% CPU utilization), but in mediaplayer (mplayer2.exe) with coreavcdecoder.ax it's play 2 times slower (have big sound/video desinc.)
what the point?

try MPC. -done, but result is the same :/
May be it's win2000 and work's computer with realy old video, but mplayer play :/ same trouble with ffdshow...

What splitter are you using?

Have you tried a player like Zoomplayer (MPC is nice, but not exactly the less cpu-hungry)?

Splietter is "matroska splitter" :/
At home don't find some time to test it ;)
But at work do x)

Any recomnedations for "optimal" WMP10 and MediaCenter performance? Currently I am using NERO 6.6 as the splitter and then CoreAVC with Nero for Audio (6 chanel from teh HE-AAC)

Will the matroska splitter "break" MCE????
