Dvd-9 -> 2*dvd-5

Hey !

i wanna split a dvd-9 to 2 dvd-5's ... and i want the same menu on both .... and i dont wanna use any commerical apps .. like dvd-fab or whatever they are called ... isnt it possible with like IFOEdit or something like

Yes, it's certainly possible with IFOEdit and there are guides here on how to do it. I will warn you that I have seen a few DVDs that can't be split in this way. For example, let's suppose you have a DVD with VTS_02* which contains 4 TV episodes of a show. Let's say that the total length is 4 GB. Let's say that you also have 4 GB of extras in VTS_03*. What do you do? The easiest way to handle this type of situation is actually NOT to use IFOEdit, but to use VOBBlanker to make one disc with VTS_02* blanked and another disc with VTS_03* blanked.
Please read the IFOEdit guides carefully. You need to remember to manually change the Last Sector value of Disc 1 (the guide says where to do this). I do recommend using the "Get VTS Sectors" button on both discs IFOEdit produces, but there has been some argument about whether or not this is necessary. Do this AFTER you change the Last Sector value.

yeha i did "Get VTS Sectors" and got some errors ... but i will try VOBBlanker too :) thx alot ...

EDIT : sooo ... vobblakner worked for me to split the dvd ..but this is the deal ... there is 4 flicks on the dvd ... and it 7 gb in total ... and the menu ... there is buttons for all the flicks ... and now when its splitted i want 2 buttons to not work ... to turn them off ... i splitted the dvd into 2 flicks on each dvd ... and atm those 2 buttons work .. i wanna disable them .. how ?

I've just been through the IFOEdit guide and I don't see anything in it about fixing the last sector of disc 1. I see where it has an optional section about fixing the start point of chapter 2. If somebody could point me in the right direction? Or maybe I'm not looking at the correct guide?

You can find good guides on rolZ homepage.

But here is it in short:

- Open the DVD in PgcEdit
- Select the PGC of the menu you want to modify
- Open the menu editor by clicking the green menu button
- Select the button you want to disable
- Click on edit and you can see the option "Hide Button"
- Use "Replace command with NOP"
- Close the menu editor and save the modified DVD including the buttons.
- Test the result of your modification with PowerDVD

Kevinh - they changed the guide, and I don't know why. You are right - the references to changing the last sector value are gone now. Maybe the newest version of IFOEdit has fixed this problem. I haven't updated IFOEdit in years but it was a problem at one time.

- Use "Replace command with NOP"I prefer to use the Jump to non-deleted button option. This way, if, per chance, a disabled button is selected when the menu starts, pressing enter will highlight a valid button.
