Trouble with FlightPlan

I tried to decript flightplan with DVD Decripter and it did fine, but when I tried to shrink it an I/O error in 3.1.1 occured. So I sent it through FixVTS and then I was able to shrink it, but the finished product after burning only has the director's comments and no movie. Help with this problem please.

This is an RipGuarded disc. Try the latest version of DVDFab. Then run through your DVDShrink. GoodLuck.

there is a newer version of Shrink (3.2). You may want to make sure all programs are up to date and make another attempt, but I'd start from scratch if I were you.

Did you re-author the movie or do a full disc?

I believe I used DDecrypter to put to my HD, and then I used VobBlanker to clean it up. I then loaded into Shrink and made a "full disc" backup with no problems and only taking out foreign audio.

Version 3.2.0.14 - 25 July 2004
This was the last update of DVDShrink. It has not been updated since 2004. It was made ilegal in the US shortly after this update. There is no need for VobBlanker, If you simply process with DVDFab version.5.9.6.8. Shrink will process fine from there. And you can still get a Full Disc, if you wish.

The last shrink is 3.2.0.15

And given you have run it through DVD Shrink, it may be that you kept the wrong audio stream. Typically, the movie is 5.1 and the Director's Comments are 2.0

Try re-doing the DVD Shrink process.

Hmmm, I made and ISO with DVD Decryptor, then opened it in DVD Shrink and had zero problems. I haven't tested the disc yet but there were no errors.

No DVDDeFab, AnyDVD or anything running.

Correct... unless of course, one interprets his words to mean that he ended up with the director's commentary, and no "movie soundtrack." I know that is not precisely what he wrote, but when I first read his post, I assumed that this might be what he was trying to communicate.

I cannot imagine that he is seeing no visual image at all, but that he is hearing an audio track, and that the audio track he is hearing happens to be the director's commentary. I suppose this is somehow possible, but I have yet to come across a case as I describe.

As usual, more info from the original poster wold be helpful, here. I was able to back up my copy using basically the procedure he describes. I used the FixVTS, just as he did. If he is seeing the film, and hearing the wrong audio stream, then I would also suggest that he might have "unchecked" the audio stream that he really wanted when he was in DVDShrink -- just a Blutach already suggested. Or, it is also possible that he simply needs to grab his remote control, and hit the "audio" button on it to cycle through the various different soundtracks, to see what ones he has ended up with.

If, as you interpreted, he actually meant that he is hearing a director's commentary and he is not seeing any picture, then I believe he needs to start all over again, and proceed very carefully, and test his results on the hard drive before he tries to burn it.

Ironically, AnyDVD (payware) and DVD Decrypter, with the setting decribed in this forum, have resulted in errors. Even after AnyDVD shows having found and removed the protection. Hitch and The Brothers Grimm come to mind. Interesting !

AnyDVD doesn't remap things like DVD Fab Decrypter does. Try copying the contents of the VIDEO_TS folder to the hard drive with AnyDVD and Windows Explorer first, then use DVD Shrink on that.

I too was able to backup the entire DVD using only DVDFabD and shrink without any problem

you are correct. just you dvdshrink 3.2 and burn the movie. had no problems. i made the iso with dvd decrypter as well and then used dvd shrink and burned it to dvd. no problems.

I've done the DVDFab Decrypt - to - DVD Shrink a couple times now and still
get the same error in Shrink:

"DVD Shrink 3.2
DVD Shrink encountered an error and cannot continue.
Invalid data in file “D:\FLTONNW1\VIDEO_TS\VTS_03_1.VOB”
OK"

I even tried running DVDFabD thru VoBblanker, but Shrink had same error.

Any suggestions?

Did you try burning an ISO of it first?

No, at least not that I know of. No,. there isn't a .ISO in the folder I created for the Flightplan files.

This wa sthe first time I used the DVDFab Decrypt. Previously on other titles I own, I only needed DVD Shrink to do the entire back-up. But with Greentech1974's expalination of ARccOS vs. Ripguarded titles, I downloaded DVDFab Decrypt.

I've never seen this error with Shrink before.
