Since my laptop is less than desirable for encoding, and my college has hundreds of fast desktop just sitting around...I was wondering how, or even if, I could go about using one of the idle desktops for encoding.
The problem is always the same. No admin rights to install software.

Also, I can't believe there are critics of AutoGK; it is one of the coolest freeware apps there is. What would low-budget students like me do without freeware?

You aren't going to be able to install XviD FfW or AVISynth.

You could use mencoder, once again no AVISynth, but it can crop, resize, etc. Supports XviD profiles, 2 pass encoding, lame mp3 audio, etc.

The USB ports are enabled, if that helps. Ideally, I'd be able to use a USB hard drive, containing my files, copying only the executables onto the computer. I'm really sketchy about what is meant by "install", when refering to software.
