Let me start off by what I'm doing, intaking video with audio (VCR to PC) to be reproduced on DVD. I convert all types of home videos such as older 8mm, super 8 and other taping methods that people might not have handy in there living room but still want to view these old home movies. Now I've been working with Pinnacle back since Pinnacle Studio 8, have now worked with studio 9.4.3/ studio 9 plus/ studio 10 (all versions) plus/ and have found myself back to Studio 9.3.5 like many others. I'm currently in the process of looking for another program to intake video, edit/compose (menus/chapters/transitions/titles), & finally make DVD other than Pinnacle (any reccomendations would be appreciated).
Ok now about the rendering, I've been intaking video at 6000 - 7500 Kbits/sec depending on the size of the video (don't want any lossless quality). After composing & editing my video, I make the DVD. Now here is were my problem comes into play. As of right now I've been burning directly to disc & it's taking upwards of 2 - 3 hours to make a disc with video that ran 2 hours long. Here (http://pinnacle.custhelp.com/cgi-bin/pinnacle.cfg/php/enduser/std_adp.php?p_faqid=11436) are some of the make disc options available in pinnacle 9 along with the kbits/sec (which I match up with the kbits/sec in?).
-Now if I'm taking the video in at the same kbit/sec as when I make the disc should this be taking this long to make the DVD?
-What settings could I change or make video then burn to disc to help with the times to actually make the DVD?
-When making the DVD's I've been using VBR, when will I need to use CBR or should I be using it constantly for best quality, but again will this slow the rendering process?
-What Kbits/sec can I get away with for quality video (in/out), like said above I've set the bar at about 6000 kbits/sec to not go below?
-I've also read before that on pinnacle you can change something in the registry to force the rendering by DX9 or the hardware/video card any thoughts on this?
-Also quick note there is only DVD+R DL in the Make disc options? I've only got DVD-R DL anyone know the reason for this or if one is more compatible than the other or any other programs that properly burn DVD-R DL, what I mean is can I make the video with pinnacle & burn a DVD-R DL with another program that's been known to work without layer break problems or coasting?
I don't feel that this falls on my computer which is as follows:
3.0 GHz P4
1 Gig ram (soon to be 2GB)
ATI AIW Radeon 9800
Asus P4C800-E Deluxe Mobo
Thank you for your time
