Is there any plan for a AAC that can encode/decode DTS signal ?

And what about 7.1 aac ?

Thanks.

I haven't understood the first question (encoding and decoding DTS???), about the second I'm not sure, but I think that it's supported by the specs, but I don't know about programs.

DTS is not AAC. See the FAQ's.

AAC supports many more than 7.1 channels (see the FAQ). However I don't know of an implementation that supports more than 5.1 ATM.

DTS is not AAC. See the FAQ's.

Sorry, i didnt explain right what i mean. Let me explain with other words:

I would like to make backup of my DVDs in h264, but on the audio side, i like the sound of DTS. So my question is: there is anyway to transcode the DTS sound wavs into a good audio codec ? So on the decode it would reproduce the DTS sound, with good quality, but smaller bitrate compared to the original DTS tracks.

Thanks.

AAC of course...
AAC is already very good at 64 kbps/channel

Using BeSweet and BeLight with the Nero dll's could produce audio that will rival the quality of the DTS stream. Use LC and bitrate above 400, mayber even 500. Considerably lower than DTS, but higher than Dolby Digital.
