View Full Version : Joining 2 avi files with DTS audio

This seems like something simple that should have been asked and answered here before but every search on merging/joining/combining dts didn't give me what I was looking for.

When I use a program like AVIMuxGUI to combine two avi files with DTS audio, there is a problem with the playback. At the merging point, the audio stops playing. If I skip past that part of the file, the second half of the combined avi plays fine. Is there any way to fix the DTS stream similar to how BeSliced fixes an AC3 stream?

I've also tried using a simple copy /b command on the DTS files with the same result.

To fix DTS try with Delaycut http://jsoto.posunplugged.com/audiotools.htm

Nice tool, but running it through delay cut didn't fix it. The avi still goes silent if it actually plays through the point of joining. And it actually crashes WMP in most cases.

Maybe the two parts have different parameters (numchannels, samplerate, bitrate,...) and can't be joined.

The besplit used with besliced can also fix the broken(no header or truncated) DTS file.
If it does not fix the joined DTS(copy /b), it's prbably because of the different formats between the two DTS files as tebasuna51 said.
The delaycut will be useful to sync(with cut & silence imbedding)to the video caused by the joint area of the DTS.
