Is it possible that different matrices (H264) could affect the encoding time?

Oh yep

Wow, really? In that case SoulHunter's takes 2hrs longer, but compresses 25% better!

Jarrett thats the second time you use a meaningless thread title
make sure to read the rules again, striked

Wow this requires a warning? Sorry I'm not so technical in my topics, I'm just learning:( , would you have been happier if i typed my question in the topic then a "?" here. And no this is the first time unless the "oversize" topic wasn't immediately obvious that I meant file size.

Assuming you are talking about x264, there might be a small difference in performance.
There are several different implementations of the quantization routines. The faster ones cannot be used with CQMs with very low entries because of overflows. But I don't think that it will make 2h difference. How long was the overall encoding time?

About 12hrs on a P4 2.8GHz and 10hrs on a P4 3.0GHz. I noticed there hasn't been SSE3 added so should be minimal difference. Same encoder settings of course.:)

In other forums it might be accepted that titles like 'surprise inside' are used in order to lure everyone into klicking on that thread-title. But in this place we want to easily spot what a topic is about; dismiss it if it is not of interest for us, klick it if we're interested. There's just too much going on in order to open every darn thread in the forum!
Just imagine a whole page of threads with titles like:
"...what I wanted to say is"
"Don't know if that's true"
"What do you think?"
"What is..."
"Help"
"Please help"
"Help me!"
Yep: It's SPAM! Unintended by the people who posted but in the end it's SPAM.
That kind of stuff makes a forum unusable.
You understood how you could have done it differently, I see: A fitting title for this thread would indeed have been "Do matrices (H.264) influence encoding time?". That would have said it all and everyone could have known, just by reading the title, if he could answer that question or if he had any interest in that topic at all. And you could have left the body of your topic pretty much empty, you're right.
Got the general idea?
