AC3 Filter, select output: 2/0+sw 2.1 stereo, cause restart while play with MPC.
I installed Ac3 Filter by K-Lite codec pack(newest version).
I tried 3/0+sw 3.1 stereo, 2/1+sw 3.1 surround..., they all work fine.
But if I choose 2/0+sw 2.1 stereo, and play as MPC, my computer will restart immediately.

My speaker is a 2.1 type. Anybody has an idea of why?
I heard from somebody said 2.1 is unlike 5.1, 5.1 has a real subwoofer line out, 2.1 is only virtually create the subwoof sound from the speaker. Is this why I cannot choose 2/0+sw 2.1 stereo?

1. Which is the newest version of AC3filter ?
I'm using ac3filter_1_01a_rc5.exe so try this.

2. about the outputs 2.0 and 2.1 :
It doesn't matter if your speaker system is 2.0 or 2.1.
Tath does matter if your soundcard is directly connected to the subwoofer.
If it is, then select 2.1 , if not (as I think) then you must select 2.0 and Base redirection on the other panel of ac3filter !!! (how many cables goes from the soundcard to the speakers? if 1 (left, right) then 2.0 , if 2 (left, right + 1 to the subwoofer), then 2.1 )

I hope it helps ...

With a 2.1 speaker system only 1 cable (left, right) go to the subwoofer, the low frequencies are filtered and reproduced by the subwoofer, and the rest is send to left and right channels.

Is a bad idea buy three independent speakers (left, right and subwoofer) and connect to the left, right and LFE output of a soundcard. Don't mistake Subwoofer with LFE channel. The subwoofer is a speaker specialized in low frequencies to compensate the poor response in these frequencies by the left and right speakers.

Then you must use always output 2.0 in ac3 filter and downmix all channels to front Left and Right channels. The hardware filter in subwoofer select the low frequencies, you don't need select these frequencies by soft.
