According to the most recent Xvid guide in Doom9, chroma optimizer is:

Chroma optimizer is a filter that interpolates colors in uniform black/white areas/pixels. This can help to reduce the "red stairs" effect.

and i thought that using this option would only influence the edge (on anime source), I mean only the line... perhaps completely black and white scenes as well. But does this option somehow influence the brightness/contrast of picture too? Like somehow make it darker in the area so it looks better lined or cleaner edge? any information about this option would be great...

the reason i ask is because someone told me its better to make better avs script to make the line cleaner (such as using warsharp) than using this option, and... honestly, i have no idea what he even suggest that after reading the guide.

Hmm, I thought it raises the compressibility by reducing the chroma information in black/white areas where you wouldnt see it anyway!? Maybe a dev could clear this up... :\
