Shrink VS Nero Recode

Have any readers carried out any comparisons between these two programs to establish as to which has the better (as in quality) compression algorithm.

Yeah...I found them to be pretty much indistinguishable when just doing a compress from DVD-9 to DVD-5, viewed on a 27" NTSC TV. I don't think any real work is being done in optimizing MPEG2 recoders for quality - all the focus is on MPEG4 ASP & AVC right now.

at this point, the quality output is the same. recode2 is much faster. i use them both.

If you use the crippled version of nero that comes with your burner then you wont be able recode any files with Dolby digital audio tracks due to licencing issues

Recode is as good as Shrink (maybe better, but I cannot tell), only if you enable both Advanced Analysis and High Quality Slow Record.

If Slow Record is disabled, it will encode much faster, but there will be some loss in quality in higher compressions.

I use DVD Shrink at night when I go to bed (ISO and Burn w/Decrypter), and Nero Recode when I am awake. Recode is much faster, espcecially at analyzing.
